Personal Counseling Service

An Anchor for People in Crisis

Tammy is a mother of two teenagers. She divorced several years ago and has to support her children alone, Dad pays no child support. She has no insurance and is attempting to get disability benefits.

Tammy has attempted suicide three times and failed because her children called 911 each time and saved her life. This time Tammy had written a two-page suicide note and was planning on being successful. A family member tearfully presented the sincere concern to our executive director. PCS was able to see this patient, she presented her two page suicide and farewell letter to the psychiatric nurse to show that she planned to be successful this time. Tammy was immediately transported to University Hospital and admitted into the psychiatric ward.

Tammy has since been receiving counseling and medication management and has conveyed to us that Personal Counseling Service saved her life. She and her children have a glimmer of hope now. Tammy is scheduled to see the psychiatric nurse monthly and the therapist weekly. She is expected to pay something for her services once her
situation changes so that the funds can be used to help others in need.

PCS provided the services and care but YOUR financial contributions through our Samaritan Fund saved her life.
