Our 2008 Executive Directors Report
It’s been an exciting year for PCS and we have much to share. Before sharing our good news I ‘d like to thank
our many supporters and grantors.Your financial support may have provided services that saved someone from suicide or helped a family who had no insurance, state or federally supported benefits. YOU are the reason that our passion lives to serve others and your support gives us the strength and encouragement to carry on to provide mental health services in the Kentuckiana area.
Early in 2008, previous Board members worked with me to create a sustainable fundraiser for PCS. Thanks to our relationship with the Samaritan Institute in Denver, CO., they provided us with a template for a very successful event that is held throughout their network; we will be rolling out a new award to Southern Indiana called; The Ethics in Business Award to be held in May 2009 at Kye’s II. This award will recognize an individual, non-profit and for-profit for ethical business practices and civic involvement. Thus far, the awards will be named after leaders in the community that exemplify ethical behavior and civic responsibility. Contributors gave $25,000 for each award to be named; the two awards that have been named are the Les and Virginia Albro Business & Ethics Award for a for-profit, thanks to Mrs. Hazel Bales. The second award will be the Alice Schleicher Business & Ethics Award for an individual. We have one award yet to be named. Bellarmine University business graduate students will select the winners. Nominations are being accepted through Feb. 1, 2009. For a nomination form contact Doug Drake at 812-206-4273.
During the awards, PCS will be celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary and has kicked that off with a major gifts campaign. If you would like to get involved with the Board, a committee or contribute to mental health services call the number listed above and I’d be honored to get you connected. During the year I rolled out a pilot
program called; the Executive Director Roundtable of Southern Indiana and would like to thank the co-founders; Deniese Loyd, Leigh Drake and Kerri Cokeley. This forum allows non-profit and for-profits to collaborate, partner and even discuss the possibility of merger to help us make a more positive impact on our communities
by working more efficiently.
Blessings to you all in 2009.
Doug Drake, Executive Director
