What is Our Economic Impact?
In regard to mental health hospitalization; the average stay is 6
days at a rate of $1,200 per day. By consistently serving clients
on an outpatient basis, we reduce medical expenses for families by
providing preventative and on-going mental health care at an
overall lower cost to the community.
In 2008, our new client/patient intakes increased by 61%.
The number of children and youth we served last year increased by
6%
With 8.65 full-time employees (10 clinical staff and 5
administrative staff), we served 864 persons in Southern Indiana
and 370 persons from Kentucky.
In 2008, PCS’ services kept an estimated 268 patients for entering
the hospital or being rehospitalized for mental health issues. This
was a cost savings to the tax payers, state and federal government
of $1,929,600.
PCS staff and Board contributed to Metro United Way, WHAS Crusade
for Children, Floyd County Relay for Life, the Susan G. Komen Race
for the Cure, One Southern Indiana, Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer, the Fund for the Arts and Personal Counseling Service’s
Major Gifts Campaign for a total of $23,300.
At the close of 2008, our major gifts campaign began to request 5
year pledges.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of our patients/clients are children and
youth.
Forty-five percent (45%) of are patients/clients are at or below
poverty level.
